Independence Day Festivities: Adding Fireworks and Fun to Your Family Calendar

As we gear up for the excitement of the Fourth of July, it’s time to add some sparkle and sizzle to your family calendar. Today, we’re here to help you make sure your Fourth of July festivities shine bright, and organized of course!

Here are some ideas for fun activities to celebrate your Fourth of July:

Look at Your Community and County Social Media Page or Website:

Your community or county will have something for the Fourth of July. At the very least, a fireworks show, but most do parades too! Also, don’t be afraid to look to other communities nearby for their activities. By planning ahead, you can make sure you don’t miss these fun summer traditions. Pro tip: Use our washi tape to mark these events on your family calendar so everyone knows what's happening and when.

Organize a Neighborhood Parade:

If your community doesn’t have a parade, why not organize one yourself? Gather the neighborhood kids, decorate bikes, wagons, and strollers with streamers, flags, and balloons, and march around the block. It’s a fun, simple way to celebrate and bring your community together.

Plan a BBQ with Family and/or Friends:

It can be daunting to haul young kids everywhere on holidays with long nights, so why not offer to host a small BBQ with those closest to you? Invite family and/or friends over for a potluck-style BBQ! Ask each invitee to bring their favorite traditional 4th of July dish, games, and/or their favorite activity. You could even ask them to bring their favorite type of firework too and have a show after dinner! Many hands can make for a fun day.

Plan a Craft for the Family:

There are so many great ideas on our Pinterest board. However, our personal favorites are tissue paper sparklers, toilet paper roll fireworks painting, fireworks salt painting, and of course tie dye! Tip: Set up a craft station in your backyard or living room and let the kids' creativity shine. Display their masterpieces as part of your festive decor.

Have a Themed Family Movie Night:

After a day of fun in the sun, wind down with a patriotic movie night. Set up an outdoor projector or snuggle up in the living room with some cozy blankets and popcorn. Movies like "The Sandlot" or "Independence Day" are perfect for the occasion. Add a special touch by creating a popcorn bar with red, white, and blue toppings like M&Ms, sprinkles, and more.

Happy planning and have a fantastic Fourth of July!
